At Orange County Flight Center we honor the dedication and sacrifice of our veterans by providing exceptional flight training and personalized support, helping them continue their proud legacy of service in the skies. Use your VR&E (Chapter 31) or Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) benefits to launch your aviation career right here in California.

Many of our flight instructors, students, and staff are veterans themselves, creating a supportive and familiar environment for those using GI Bill® benefits or other VA-funded flight training programs. At OCFC, you are not just joining a flight school — you are joining a community that understands your mission.

WHAT THE POST-9/11 GI BILL® COVERS AT OCFC. Eligible veterans can receive full or partial tuition and instructional fees for VA-approved flight training programs, books and essential materials (up to $1,000 annually), and the flight hours and simulator time required by your FAA-approved curriculum. Post-9/11 benefits also include a Monthly Housing Allowance based on the campus location.

WHY VETERANS CHOOSE OCFC. OCFC is a VA-approved Part 141 flight school offering structured, FAA-certified programs that meet the eligibility requirements for both Chapter 33 and Chapter 31 benefits, with efficient progression toward the Private Pilot License, Commercial certificate, and CFI ratings. Part 61 training is generally not covered by VA benefits. Veterans and active service members also receive a 5% discount on all aircraft rental and instruction rates.

DEDICATED VETERAN SUPPORT. Our veteran liaisons — Logan Wagher, Brandon Riggins, and Chris Tellez — assist with determining your GI Bill® or VR&E eligibility, navigating VA paperwork and training approvals, building a personalized training plan that aligns with FAA and VA guidelines, and a smooth transition into a civilian aviation career.

FAQ. How do I apply VA benefits to flight school? Submit a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA, then enroll in a VA-approved Part 141 program; our team assists with the rest. Can I use the Yellow Ribbon Program? OCFC is not currently a Yellow Ribbon participant, but Post-9/11 or VR&E benefits can still cover a significant portion — often the full cost — of VA-approved training. Ineligible for VA certification: recreational programs, courses previously completed, self-improvement or audited courses, and any course not approved by the State Approving Agency.
