Students relocate from across the country — and around the world — to train in Southern California's year-round flying weather. Orange County is a major metro area; arranging life here is straightforward, and we help you do it before you arrive.

HOUSING. Most relocating students choose furnished rooms or shared apartments in Costa Mesa, Irvine, or Santa Ana, all within 15 minutes of the airport. Typical student budgets run $900–$1,600 per month for a furnished room depending on area and lease length. We maintain current recommendations — including options other students are actively sharing — and will connect incoming students before arrival. Ask us early; the best options book weeks out.

TRANSPORTATION. You do not need a car on day one. The airport area is served by OCTA buses, and rideshare from most student housing runs a few dollars. Most career-track students do buy an inexpensive car within the first months — training schedules are easier with one — and we can point you to how past students have handled it.

ARRIVING FROM ABROAD. International students should start 60–90 days out: TSA Flight Training Security Program (FTSP) registration first, then visa logistics, then housing. DAILY LIFE. Groceries, gyms, and beaches are all within minutes of the field. Training here means flying dense Southern California airspace by day and living in a coastal city the rest of the time. It is a good place to spend a year becoming a professional pilot.
